**Description:** The 7140 Electric Strike, with its 4-7/8” faceplate, is designed for Adams Rite deadlatches or cylindrical locksets with latchbolt projections of 1/2” to 5/8”. It is suitable for use in both hollow metal and wood doors and jambs.
**Function:** This electric strike allows for remote electrical control of doors fitted with Adams Rite 4500, 4700, or 4900 Series deadlatches, or similar cylindrical locksets with 1/2” to 5/8” latchbolt projections. Electrical activation unlocks the strike jaw, enabling the door to open without manually operating the latch. The compact mechanism fits into aluminum jamb sections as shallow as 1-5/8” and is compatible with existing preparations for discontinued Adams Rite 7040, 7840N, and 7850 Electric Strikes.

**Specifications:**
- **Fail-Safe/Fail-Secure:** Field convertible between modes. Note: AC intermittent solenoids should not be used continuously.
- **Case Dimensions:** Approximately 1” x 3-3/8” x 1-5/8” deep, made of zinc aluminum alloy.
- **Strike Lip:** The standard 7140 strike lip is designed for 1-3/4” thick doors that close flush with the jamb edge. For other door thicknesses or jamb shapes, lip extension kits are available, specified by the last dash number.
- **Strike Opening:** 5/8” x 1-7/16” x 1/2” deep, with a stainless steel bolt retainer jaw. Accepts bolts from Adams Rite 4500, 4700 (discontinued), or 4900 Deadlatches and cylindrical latches.
- **Faceplate:** Measures 1-1/4” x 4-7/8”, flat with square corners, available in a variety of architectural finishes.
- **Voltage Options:** Available in 12 or 24 volt AC and DC. DC units operate silently, while AC units produce a buzzing sound upon activation.
